Horticulture

The horticultural department is comprised of two main areas, the outdoor vegetable garden where Eric and his team grow a selection of seasonal vegetables for sale in the shop. The other area is made up of polytunnels and glasshouses in which Richard and his team raise bedding plants, tomatoes, herbs and herbaceous perennials in the spring, followed by salad crops through the summer. There is also a soft fruit patch and cut flower garden.

The majority of flowers and all the vegetables is raised from seed so that the Service Users can see the life cycle of the crops from start to finish.
