Independent Living Apuldram Centre provide supported living for 20 clients in the Chichester and Wittering area, all of which are supported by 16 staff members. Two of the properties are owned by Apuldram, and one is leased from the F.G. Woodger Trust, the other seven houses are Housing Association. The new scheme at Common Lodge was opened in June and provides 24 hour supported living for older adults with learning difficulties, the accommodation has 5 bedrooms with en suites and communal living accommodation plus staff bedroom and bathroom, all rooms have call buttons to the staff room. The Service Users have varied supported hours, some with a minimum of 1 hour a day to twenty-four hour support. All houses have an on call system which means if they are unwell day or night, there is a member of staff to support them. Aside from helping them within their day to day living, they also have a very busy social life including cinema, concerts, gateway club, and days out and more! Two of the Service Users have progressed so well they moved from twenty-four hour support to living in their own flat with minimum support We provide outreach to others in order to give respite to their carers, this can be weekend cover in their own home, taking to football matches, or just out for a bite to eat. |
