Sensory Garden Project

Apuldram have recently finished building a wild life garden at the centre, for the clients and visitors to enjoy. We were awarded funding from the Harbour conservancy as part of its 100th project. An area of wasteland has been converted into a beautiful sensory garden, which includes a wildlife pond, a bog garden, wild flowers, an insect hotel, a living willow arch and an arbour.

The initiative came about after realising the benefits a garden could have for adults with learning disabilities. Service Users were involved in all aspects of the project including coppicing, willow weaving and laying the foundations.
