Rachel Aslet-Clark, Apuldram’s
General Manager writes “We are pitching to West Sussex County Council
(WSCC)’s Community Initiative Fund for £5,000 towards a new contract gardening
van and we have to do this via a crowd-funding site called Spacehive.
“Please visit our crowd-funding page by clicking this link https://www.spacehive.com/apuldram where you can read more about the project, the funding
required and make a donation pledge starting from £2. To be in with
a chance of obtaining a donation from WSCC we need to demonstrate that we have
plenty of crowdfunding backers, even if the pledges are only small. WSCC
make their decisions on 5th February so time is
short; please
make a pledge and share with others (note: no money is
taken from your account until our target of £10,000 has been met).
“FYI – The cost of the van is £21,000; we already have a
£10,000 pledge from the Forbes Foundation but need to raise the rest of the
funds; there is up to £5,000 available from WSCC. To pitch to them
we have to use the Spacehive crowdfunding platform.”
Thank you!
Cheer, Chat and Coffee were all ago in the new Apuldram Centre Common Room on Thursday 22nd November. The new facility has now opened after a major 12 week redevelopment and make over. Trainees attending the day-care centre can now benefit from having a new and improved indoor and outdoor space to enjoy break and lunchtime sessions, along with other activities such as drama and life-skills.
The eclectic and bright internal colour scheme of tangerine, yellow and lime has created a modern and bright café atmosphere to be enjoyed by all.
Trainees, staff, supporters and professionals involved in bringing the project to fruition joined together today in celebration of the new space and all were loud in raising their voices to toast “three cheers” in recognition of the building’s opening.
Trainees from the Apuldram Centre have been helping E watch (Chichester) Firefighters wash their fire engine when they visited today. Trainees have been sponsored to wash the fire engine and have also had the opportunity to try on Firefighter clothing and tour the appliances specialist equipment and the Firefighters have enjoyed Apuldram’s tea and cake!
