Pop Up Shop Makes The News

The Apuldram Centre currently has the use of the shop at 56a East Street, Chichester (formerly D’Artagnan’s who have relocated to North Street) the shop will be open until June 30.

It will be open from Monday to Saturday for visitors to shop or chat with staff, volunteers and the people the charity supports.

Rachel Aslet-Clark, general manager of The Apuldram Centre, said: “The pop up shop enables us to spread the word about the work of our local charity, provide retail experience opportunities for the people who we support and all of the proceeds from sale of high-quality pre- owned clothing will go towards our redevelopment fund, we start the first phase of these works on 2nd July”.

Apuldram has the use of the shop at 56a East Street, Chichester (formerly D’Artagnan’s). We’ll be promoting Apuldram and selling high-quality, good clean clothing in a sort of glorified car-boot sale, but classy!

If you have any items of clothing that we could sell, please bring them to the Centre. If you might have time to spare – perhaps just an hour or so – during that period, and are interested in helping, please email Sarah Abbott ( or ring on 01243 783370. Further details will follow but please help if you can. Thanks.

Friday 6th April saw Apuldram running its own stall in the Chichester Farmers’ Street Market, the first of a monthly series that will continue through the summer.

Lucy, our Shop Supervisor, had arranged for samples of our cheesy biscuits, jams and pickles to whet customers appetite to buy and, overall, it was a good opportunity to tell Chichester about Apuldram and sell some of our produce made at the Centre. Our next date there will be May 4th.

Despite the Centre being closed due to the weather, a fun time was had by all at the Westgate Centre, our contingency site for the day. Thanks to Everyone Active for helping make this happen.

Over the past year the Apuldram Centre has been Chichester-based Tennyson’s Insurance charity of the year.  Throughout the year staff from Tennyson have given through their GAYE (Give As You Earn) scheme, baked cakes and taken part in other innovative events.  The staff team raised £3,000, with a further £900 being received from rental of their office facilities.  Tennyson then went on to match 100%  the staff contribution, making a tremendous total of £6,900.

On Monday 22nd January Tennyson’s Joint Managing Director, Guy Stanford and Chief Operating Office, Clare Hantrais donated  £6,900 to the Apuldram Centre. Rachel Aslet-Clark (General Manager ) and Sarah Abbott (Deputy General Manager) were pleased to accept the donation on behalf of The Apuldram Centre following a presentation attended by all Tennyson employees.

Find us at Chichester Bunning’s community BBQ as we take part in their charity sausage sizzle on Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th January.  All proceeds from the BBQ sales are given to Apuldram.  We need you to; tell others, buy a hot dog or  give an hour of your time to help on the BBQ stall on Saturday or Sunday.  BBQ volunteers should contact the office on 01243 783 370 or email
